NTT Com to Launch Biz Security Vulnerability Management
TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced today that its Security Operation Center (SOC) will begin accepting applications on February 1 for a cloud-based solution that will enable enterprise customers to quickly begin performing continuous vulnerability scans and risk management for network equipment, servers and other IT resources, offered under NTT Com’s BizCITY® concept of providing secure access to enterprise services from anyplace at anytime.
It has become increasingly important to protect corporate IT resources from the threat of malicious attacks, as well as to fulfill internal security policies and external compliance requirements. But due to the large amount of time and cost required for these tasks, as well as the need to constantly upgrade security knowhow, some companies are unable to adequately implement all necessary security measures.
With NTT Com’s new cloud-based service, named the Biz Security Vulnerability Management, companies now can introduce and operate a vulnerability management system on a quick, easy and relatively low-cost basis. The basic system comprises NTT Com’s cloud platform and QualysGuard®, a remote vulnerability-audit software provided by Qualys®, a leader in on-demand IT security risk and policy compliance management solutions. The system can be accessed through any of NTT Com’s virtual private network services (e-VLAN, Arcstar™ IP-VPN, Group-VPN, OCN Business Pack VPN and Group-Ether), ensuring a highly secure communication environment that bypasses the Internet.
Key features of the new service include:
- Updated vulnerability signatures are released automatically for Internet and intranet audits
- Stored audit results can be checked and managed by customers via a portal website.
- Audits can be performed automatically or on-demand.
- The flat-rate monthly fee covers unlimited usage.
Audits can encompass everything from small systems to as many as 1,000+ networked devices. Securely integrated VPN ensure a safe environment for intranet audits, and the results are stored under rigorously controlled conditions at NTT Com’s robust data centers in Japan.
The service entails an initial fee of 300,000 yen for system installation and setup and an ongoing monthly fee of 1,300,000 yen (including tax), both figures assuming management of 32 IP devices on the Internet and 500 IP devices on an intranet using a dedicated scanner.
Dedicated engineers are available for optional consulting on how to upgrade vulnerability weaknesses identified through audits. Conventional security services for firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, unified threat management, virus protection, etc. also can be optionally integrated with the new service for one-stop use.
Although the service generally is available worldwide, customers should contact NTT Com to confirm specific service areas.
The NTT Com SOC is a world-class security-operation center offering network-security solutions ranging from continuous management of up to 1,000+ devices to virus protection for individual customers of NTT Com’s OCN Internet access service.
