NTT Com to Launch Arcstar Air Access Service

 
NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) today announced that it has applied to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications for approval to launch its Arcstar Air Access Service.

Arcstar Air Access is a local service that directly connects customer facilities with NTT Com’s communication network using fixed wireless access (FWA) systems. The service provides low-cost, seamless telecommunications. It is NTT Com’s third local access service following the previous Arcstar Direct and Arcstar Value Access, aimed towards developing new business using the state-of-the-art technologies. Arcstar Air Access can be used as a way to access NTT Com’s various services or as an access network for Arcstar Value Access, enabling customers to be served with NTT Com’s seamless telecommunications service at low cost.

The service will commence soon on a nationwide basis after NTT Com obtains approval from the minister. However, user areas will be limited to areas within wireless range of NTT Com’s buildings. Also, at the start, Okinawa will be excluded.

NTT Com provides two types of Arcstar Air Access Service.
1) Type 1: network service to connect with NTT Com’s existing network services
2) Type 2: network service that terminates at NTT Com’s building (such as for housing service)

Please see the chart below for charges of Arcstar Air Access Type 1 and Type 2 services. Initially, an additional installation fee will be necessary.

As for 1.5 Mb/s, customers can receive benefit by using multiple circuits at the same location. Also, lower charges are affordable by combining Arcstar Air Access with Arcstar Value Access (Attachment 1-A and 1-B).
