NTT Communications to Offer "MagicConnect -- Secure Remote Desktop" Globally

TOKYO, JAPAN --- NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that its "MagicConnect*1-- Secure Remote Desktop" will be offered globally, starting with Brazil on December 1.

"MagicConnect -- Secure Remote Desktop" enables traveling users to have constant and secure remote access to their office system including e-mail servers and file servers. Expansion into global markets is envisioned under NTT Com's strategy of providing customers with an enhancement of global security solutions.

The service responds to an expanding demand for secure remote-access to corporate networks, especially among teleworkers and business travelers. The service enables customers to reduce the risk of leaking confidential information due to the loss or theft of a PC. It also protects against the threat of virus infection via an unprotected Internet connection while traveling.

By connecting a personalized USB key to an Internet connected Windows(r) PC, users can remotely access their office environment to check e-mails, access files and run applications. NTT Com's solution promises high-level security through authentication to an NTT Com server and encrypted communication. Data does not remain on the remote PC because the users connect directly to their own desktops on their company's network. This further reduces security risks.

"MagicConnect -- Secure Remote Desktop" only requires a USB key and software installation on the office PC. This eliminates any need to configure dedicated devices, firewalls or routers.

To use the service from Brazil, the cost per user is a one-time fee of US$300 for startup and US$30 per month thereafter. Costs in other countries may vary. Customer support will be available in both English and Japanese.

The service will be demonstrated at the NTT Communications Forum 2007, which will take place at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on November 29th and 30th.

*1 MagicConnect was developed by NTT IT, an NTT Holdings company.
