NTT Com to Offer Comprehensive Solution for Remote Working
TOKYO, JAPAN - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today the launch of a comprehensive network solution for secure access to office systems via dedicated smartphones in Japan on October 4. For customers requiring even greater security, direct connection between dedicated smartphones and NTT Com’s VPN service will be introduced in March 2012.
The new service, named Remote Office Solution, combines 3G network, wireless LAN and dedicated smartphones to allow people to work more freely and flexibly in remote locations without sacrificing convenience or security. Remote Office Solution also supports business continuity if employees are unable to commute the office due to accidents, disasters, etc.
Remote Office Solution users will be able to remotely access documents and mails via the company’s regular desktop environment by using NTT Com’s BizCITY suite of cloud-based application services, such as virtual desktop and email, for highly optimized corporate operations.
Low- and flat-rate data transmission charges are available for sister-company NTT DOCOMO’s FOMA™ 3G mobile network and NTT Com’s WLANs nationwide. The same charges apply for communication via other devices tethered to the solution’s dedicated smartphones.
Voice communication via IP telephony app also is included under the flat-rate billing. NTT Com’s IP telephony app allows free voice communication between the solution’s dedicated smartphones, and also with subscribers of various NTT Com IP telephony services. Calls to general fixed-line phones and mobile phones in Japan are as cheap as 8.4 yen per three minutes and 16.8 yen per minute, respectively through this app.
Dedicated smartphones provided with the solution are the Android-based Dell Venue, a high-spec model that also can be tethered to other devices.
When Remote Office Solution is combined with NTT Com’s ArcstarTM Unified Communication Service’s Extension Plan, which provides IP-based internal dialing among global offices, including within Japan, both fixed and mobile phones can be used for free, seamless internal dialing worldwide. International roaming will be available from February 2012.
