Carbon-neutral Initiatives

Sustainable Data Centers for Decarbonization

NTT Group is accelerating decarbonization efforts based on "NTT Green Innovation toward 2040". One of the goals is to achieve carbon neutrality in data centers and mobile by 2030, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80%, and achieve company-wide carbon neutrality by 2040. NTT Com is actively striving to achieve these goals by not only introducing high-efficiency, energy-saving equipment throughout its telecommunications infrastructure and data centers, but also expanding the use of renewable energy sources that do not emit CO2 (carbon dioxide) .

Promotion of renewable energy

Promotion of renewable energy

In our data centers, we are promoting the use of renewable energy sources that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By specifying renewable energy for the electricity supplied to customers' ICT equipment at some of our data centers, we offer the combined "environmental value" of zero CO2 emissions.

This enables customers to comply with RE100 and other international environmental initiatives and promote customers' ESG management toward decarbonization.

Customers can choose the type of renewable energy in the following data centers as option:

A wide variety of services to meet customers' needs

We offer various services according to customers’ needs

The energy-saving designs in data centers

We continue to improve on our energy and construction costs with the knowledge we have in designing and constructing better data centers.
We manage to reduce power consumption with our advanced, efficient, energy and space saving design, such as indirect evaporative cooling system, cooling wall system and airflow management in the server room.

Cooling wall system

Cold air blows out from the cooling wall into the server room. We had improved our cooling system by having separate airflow of cold coming from the cooling wall and hot from the racks that circulates back to the system.

AI-based temperature control

With the real-time control of the cooling system via sensors and AI engines, we manage to minimize the wasted electricity and reduce its consumption of up to 30%.

AI-based temperature control

Indirect evaporative cooling system

Highly effective cooling system that automatically shifts to 3 optimal cooling methods accordingly to the outside air and temperature condition.

What is non-fossil certificate?

A certificate for electricity generated using non-fossil resources such as oil and coal.
With the "environmental value" of zero CO2 emissions, this enables customers to comply with RE100 (Renewable Energy 100) and other international environmental initiatives and promote customers' ESG management toward decarbonization.

What is non-FIT?

An electricity that is generated not under FIT law. (Electricity from over ten-year-old solar power generator and old hydro power generators.) Environmental value is being added to the electricity, and because of this electricity company purchase generated powers, such as solar powers, etc., in its high amount regardless of its market price in accordance to FIT law. (For 10 years)
As for the difference, it is being collected as renewable energy levy, hence the evaluation of consumers are already purchasing the environmental value generated by the facility.

What is "Additionaility"?

"Additionaility" is evaluated when there is expectation on introducing renewable energy generators due to an increase of customers who choose renewable energy as their option. Meanwhile, "non-Additionality" refers to when there is less expectation in the effect of renewable energy to the community.

What is offsite PPA?

A Power Purchase Agreement by having a power generator outside the premises and supply its power via electrical grid.
